Default RS America or 993

I've been following the discussion of 964 vs. 993 with interest as I am currently considering both cars.

What about the pros/cons of a RS America vs. 993......prices seem to be much closer.

Well, I've driven both of these fine cars. Comparing them is easy to do, but many of the differences come down to personal preferences. Off the top of my head, I'd personally break it down something like this:

993 advantages:
looks
rear suspension
horsepower
no valve adjustment
steering (for street)
ride (street)
6-speed

993 disadvantages:
weight
steering (for track)

RSA advantages:
weight
steering (for track)
rarity (resale value?)

RSA disadvantages:
rough street ride
steering (for street)
5-speed

As you probably know, the performace of these two cars are nearly identical. If you wanted the car primarily to excel on the street, then I'd go with the 993. If you wanted the car primarily to excel on the track, I'd get the RSA.

Good luck with whichever one of the great cars you end up with.

Very true. In fact this is the same for all 964 C2 Coupes (5-speed) -vs- 993 C2 Coupes (6-speed).
