Default 964 owners advice on Rennsport Reunion 2018

I probably should have this in off topic, but there is a 964 reference in the title

I'm one of seven New Zealanders flying to the US for the 2018 Rennsport Reunion. Two of our group are partners so not much Porsche interest there.

For people who have been before, what are the tips for accommodation, tickets, transport etc?

Thanks in advance.

I rented an AirBnB in Pacific Grove for Rennsport V. It was about 30 minutes from Laguna seca. Came out for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Buy tickets with corral parking if possible. And try to buy a parade lap too!

I have driven up from LA and also flown in from East Coast it is easiest with a car of some sort I'm certain , navigating the peninsula without seems daunting
at best .
there are accommodations to be had , pricey or cheap your pic , if in Monterey or Carmel proper there is the gamut but some prefer the cheaper end of the spectrum and Seaside or Salinas up the 101 are plenty of cheap( inexpensive ) nightly motels .
i almost always get the track tix upon arrival but they can be bought earlier for will call I believe , but you would have to come in through the main gate ..
( not always the easiest means of entry )
ie: main gate can be shut down on race day to direct entrants to various parking areas
Its a fun time with plenty to see , be prepared to walk it tends to be relatively spread out ..Bert

Nice looking cars! Been to Rennsport a couple times (2011 and 2015). In 2011, I parked in the general Porsche parking area in the grass. 2015, got corral parking. Are you flying in and renting a car or shipping your cars in?
- Book your accommodation early. Last time we stayed in Pacific Grove (not too pricey) which was a short drive to the Monterey town center and about 30mins to the track as onceover said.
- +1 on corral parking. Shorter walk to all the action.
- Lots of walking as mentioned already. I'd recommend walking around the track to figure out what your favorite spot is for the races. Walking around the pits is like being at the Porsche museum.
- Check out Vivolo's Chowder House one night. Tasty food.

With a group of seven, I think airbnb will be your best bet as you'll most likely be able to find a larger house with enough beds. Most attending only need a one or two bedroom rental so availability will be better for a large house. Carmel Valley is a great location for both the track and proximity to Carmel & Monterey.

Uber is quite good on the peninsula, though I'd recommend renting a couple of cars.

I am planning to be there. Already purchased my tickets and coral parking, in case I decide to bring the car.

Greatly looking forward to meeting those 964 owners on the list that make it. Likewise, doing research for the next 911 project!!

Hi guys,

This will be my first time, my dad is flying (from France) and we'll drive the 964 there, I am pretty excited!

What exactly is a corral pass? I'd love a parade lap, is there a ticket for that?

We'll be booking everything this week, most likely with airbnb.

Cheers,

The corral provides you with a parking spot with other 964’s within the track. I believe there is a parade lap but I’m not sure how it works.

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, I will be taking the Targa!

I’m going as well...for work! (Lucky bastard?)

As the date gets closer (and the schedule released) we could set up a meeting time/place where the 64ers get together!

Based on recommendations we took a large Air BnB house in Pacific Grove and all bought the corral tickets. Now to sort out transport and work out what to do with the five days after Rennsport.

Great, I am booking today. Is the "overflow corral" still a good option?
