Default Build complete... with V8 (not for the purists)

Here is the build, a year after the CHP rear ended my car, we ended up putting a V8 in there and doing a lot of custom work to make the car perform at a very high level. 410 HP to the wheels, everything is solid now... enjoy the pics!

I don’t hate it!

what was the reasoning on the v8 bs origins? Was the original motor damaged?

Car was rear ended by CHP and so we used the opportunity to upgrade to more power... went with LS3 480.

Very cool! How much modifications are needed to fit a V8 in there and is there any noticeable difference in handling characteristics or did you move things around in the car to change the weight distribution?

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I dig it. I remember your thread about getting hit. What a turnaround. Enjoy it!

Tastefully done. Love those wheels. Bet it's a beast to drive. Thanks for sharing!

Marine Blue- we used the Renegade Hybrids kits, it was supposed to be 100 hours of labor to get it all done but I bet we are more like double that, with all the little odds and ends that come up. The aluminum block LS3 is quite similar in weight to the stock motor and apparently just rides a little higher up - I haven't noticed any negative characteristics. The only issue right now is we are dealing with is where to dump the radiator air in the front, right now its under the car causing a little bit of lift.

BHMav8r - Don't know the weight yet but will collect once we corner balance.

Thanks all, will try to post some more pics soon.

Interesting, I had no idea a kit already existed.

Regarding the coolant air, the newer cars all vent into the wheel well from what I've seen but then you might be dealing with elevated brake temps unless you're able to add some type of a passive duct to move air into othe brakes when in motion. Newer cars use a plastic duct that sits on the suspension arm and directs air. http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/duct1.jpg

Marine Blue, yes we do have ducts from the front bumper going into the brake backing plates for front brake cooling. In an ideal world we would cut a hole in the hood to vent the radiator air but I don't think it will look great... so playing around with fenders holes, under car holes in various sizes, etc.

Bloose - Correct its All Show All Go!

Saw a LS powered 914 at Octeenerfest in Helen, GA two weekends ago. Quiet and stout!
