Default Installed-GruppeM Carbon Intake

Installed about a week ago. Pretty good fit. Ordered from UK but arrived with Japanese Instructions. Required extra bracket to stop it from swaying. There were leftover bits from the kit which I don't know goes where as they didn't appear in instruction diagram

Nice, pzull. Any comments on performance or sound level? In terms of water drainage, are there outlets below the cone area? Aside from the cone filter and shroud, what else is going on with your intake system?

pzull- your heater bypass is interesting - it looks like your distributor vent line is attached to that block-off plate; interesting!

Wouldn't you theoretically benefit from better airflow without the scoop and use the cone filter alone?? Just curious!

Your blue body color is great!

There are two drainage plugs at the bottom of two small wells. Have removed the rubber plugs as drainage is much faster with just the holes. It drains fast enough not to drown the engine in heavy downpour.

It wasn't just airflow I was after but more cool air from outside the engine bay. But this is just the pre-cursor to dumping the air flow meter and inserting a reducing radius pipe to accelerate air into manifold. This would be part of total change in engine management.

Right now before the above changes, benefits are:
1) Looks good
2) No Loss in power/torque compared to drilled air box
3) Gives you one more thing to polish, if you're into that sort of thing, otherwise its a negative
4) Weight savings of 1-2 grams, maybe

Thanks, pzull! What about the noise? How would it compare to stock and the holey airbox?

joey, from the outside the exhaust note sounded like it had more mid bass and weight, subtle enough not to notice unless you were paying attention. Inside it didn't sound any different. Main performance difference, if you can call it that, is that the car feels less "bogged down" on hot days - subtle, maybe imaginery, certainly not "wow" category. Overall certainly not the best $/performance ratio but what's done's done.
