Bring that along Piers, then we can have a clash of the titans - 2CV vs. Ka. That should be fun. I think a laptime of less than 30 mins would probably clinch it.

I was planning on going in March. But will change my dates to go along with you guys if its a well chosen (ie. quiet) weekend .

Anyone read the article in GT about the possible end of public days? They've been talking about it forever, but it looks like the fun might be coming to an end, and you'll have to pay a trackday company to take you in the future

i left the mag at home, but from what i can remember, it said that its an old out of date law that states the ring must be open to the public for a certain amount of open days a year. Some governmental wing seek to stop this because of the amount of fatalities etc. and allow circuit use only for trackday companies and manufacturer testing.
Its a topic thats been talked about for ages, and obviously if they did shut the ring to the public, the locals would loose their livelihood, so there are pro's and con's for them to consider.

Personally i can't see it happening that soon, but you never know.

Piers & JB - I've done a little research and basically the nordshleife is pretty safe from closure in 2004 . To sum up the details, the national gov dont like the accident/fatality rate, the regional gov argue that they can't survive without the income. Its an ongoing battle, but the national gov will win one day.

Christer - even though there is a noise limit, i've never seen anyone turned away or tested at the gate in all the times i've been, and i've seen some fiercely loud cars go on. As long as your cars noise at idle dosent disorientate the gate marshal enough to make him drop his bratwurst, you should be fine.
