You get misfire from plugs or leads and it fires to engine ground causing errors.

From your table, you have way too much advance at idle, twin plug engine wants just 1-2 degrees max.

And of course you can connect to VEMS while engine is off lol

Raceboy - Ok here is a picture of my Timing trigger settings - TDC after Trigger is 84, First Trigger Tooth is 0. see picture of page -
What other settings within VEMS that effect the timing do I need to check and what should they be.
Am replacing spark plug wiring and plug connections - hoping to fix connection issues. Would this grounding issue effect the VEMS performance, engine control ??

Trigger settings are correct. But please also check MAT retard table and CLT/MAP ignition adjust table for sane values.

I attached an ignition table that works nicely with 964.

On CLT/MAP table I would suggest addressing higher cylinder head temps. Normal range on 964/993 should be around 100-120 C so start the temp row at 125 and fill until 155. MAP column should be filled with higher load units, starting from down to up start with 70 and until 100 (with NA) and with lower loads/temps retard -1 to -2 ad go higher. No need to retard more than 7-8 degrees.

This didn't work for me, varioram here as well, i had to go back to more of a stock ign table to stop it from pinging at mid rpm, this is on 98 fuel.
My primary trigger settings are the same as Gus's

You can limit the timing on the areas where it knocks and retain timing elsewere.
