No doubt Robmug will step forward shortly.

Until he does, having seen his car on track on a demanding UK circuit (Oulton Park) with Rob piloting on his first ever track day, I can tell you that it should manage just fine.

Although I know the circuit pretty well, I had trouble keeping up with Rob. Oops, I mean I had to raise to about seven tenths to keep up!

Edit: And Rob's is a tiptronic.

All you are going to have to worry about is how to wipe the silly grin off your face!

I don't think Rob has managed yet.

Here I am!

Yes I do. Cab is just a bit noisier!

Unfortunately it was raining, otherwise I would have taken the roof off too.

As John said, even with me in 'D' he could only just keep up

It's still a 964 - every time I get to drive another one (as I did yesterday) it strikes me just how little the cab loses to a coupe.

PS - John - over 2000 posts!

What's the point of a cab if the roof isn't down?

The Boxters and 996 cabs at Castle Coombe all had their roofs down.

nine64,

just tracked my 90C2 cab last month and had the time of my life. it was rather cold and since I had instructors with me all day I had the top up. I actually ended up buying a coupe soon after because you are very limited here with a Cab. Most tracks on the east coast don't allow them nor does the PCA here. Of course, I could have put a roll bar in (cabsa are aloud with rollover protection) but it was more fun to get antother car. Have a great time!

I tracked my 90 C4 cab for a few years. I put in a DAS roll-bar. Most tracks require the top up unless you have a full cage and/or arm restraints.

I have tracked my "92 C2 Cab about 6 times in the last couple of years. Works great!

Here we have to have the top up unless we have roll bar and arm restraints. Just got my roll bar - will be putting it in this winter to be ready for summer.

Do IT!

I tracked my cab this year but retired it in favor of a dedicated track car. I had no worries about safety in the cab (I had a DAS roll bar that now has a new home) but wanted the extra safety of a full cage and race seats. I was mostly worried about "hurting" my daily driver (not myself).

I have tracked my C4 Cab 5 days in the last year and I plan many more in the coming years. Even with the extra weight of the C4, the Cab and the roll bar I am always surprised at how little the car gives up to C2s on the track.

BTW, I have a roll bar from Kirk Racing in my car. You can see some photos of that installation at Image 1, Image 2, Image 3.

ecsjr- interesting that you can track the car by you with the top up, unless a roll bar is in place. If there is no roll bar, there is no difference between top up or down as far as roll over protection.... strange rule
