Match engine# to body#?
You can as for a birth cerificate at the Porsche Import of your country. They will send you a paper with a list of your engine number, gear box number, new tyres on which the car left the factory ans all the accesories.
I've got min from Porsche import Pon the Netherlands.
No costs.

Dear Roy,
If you mean the body number under the dash. This cannot be matched unless you personally attend the archives department and engineering departments of PAG and trawl through the production records. Normally this is not permitted and nobody there will do it for you either. Too time consuming.
We already know that the body number and serial number do not match. I have already helped somebody with this exercise.
VIN to engine serial number and chassis number are the only legal requirements.
Ciao,
Adrian

I knew the second I pushed "submit reply" that I had phrased that incorrectly. Yes Adrian, I mean engine# to chassis#. I there somewhere I can look that up. That is other than your book (which by the way, is on order).

You would have to order a certificate of authenticity for engine actual serial number to chassis number matching.
My book covers how to ID all of this stuff in great detail but what actual engine was fitted to your chassis number and how many engines were fitted is held by Porsche and is charged for on an individual basis.
The PCNA do these certificates. They are sometimes not correct as well.
You have a lot of data on your own car. The label on the underside of the luggage compartment lid gives you everything except engine and trans serial numbers. At least you can work out for yourself (all in my book) that you have the right model and model year engine installed.

Re. Certificate of Authenticity: I recently requested a certificate using a zerox copy of the form I used to order one for my previous car (about 5 years ago). Imagine my surprise when PCNA returned my request and informed me the cost had increased from $45 to $100 (or thereabouts--I don't have the paperwork in front of me). Is that rampant inflation or what. No wonder the company stays solvent! I haven't reordered. However, it is the only game it town so I probably will. Sigh.
Thanks Adrian. Looks like we are being blackmailed again. I remember my old Jaguar that had the Chassis #, Engine#, Trans# etc. , all on one plate in the engine compartment. Not a bad idea. I do remember seeing a range of engine #'s for each year of car somewhere. Now, where was that?
