Default Porsche 964 ignition - where can I find info

Hey, my 964 has been standing for a while and recently it started cutting out and now won't start (it turns but won't fire). We've changed the dme and traced the issue and it seems that the ignition is not drawing from the coils. Not knowing much about Porsche engines we thought it might be the contact breaker (or equivalent) in the ignition. Opened it up but really have no clue. After researching on the web, I can't really find what some the parts are or how they function. (For instance, I can't find any reference to the part in the attached photo, except Hall sensor. I can't buy such a thing in the UK).

If anyone could recommend a manual that will explain how the ignition works and if someone could help clarify this part, that would be might helpful. Many thanks

That's a hall effect switch which functions like an electronic version of points.

The Hall sensor strictly provides camshaft reference for the knock sensors, not triggering in this application.

Ignition triggering is done with the flywheel's crank sensor and that's what replaces "points" in a Kettering ignition.

So, test your crank reference sensor, not hard to replace.

if your coils are silver there is a good chance they are no good no matter how new or old they are..if thats the case then replace with 993 coil pack..
