Default Cv joint damage

Anyone know what would cause this type of metal fatigue? I was still getting some shudder on heavy acceleration so I took this old cv joint apart rearranged the bearing surfaces so they are wearing in different places and put the cv assembly's on a cardone axle shaft. These look like the loebros I have on the other side but there is a vw logo stamped on these. Anyway shudder is gone car much more enjoyable to drive.

30 years of being on a turbo car might have something to do with it.
