Default header fell apart

I decided to take my headers off to fix an exhaust leak and when i pulled the 2/3 header out it feel apart in 3 pieces. Doubt its fixable. Will probably just order a good used one the the shielding off and wrap them. I was looking at heat wrap alternatives and found an interesting product. Its a ceramic cloth wrap it comes in 2" rolls
The thing that's interesting is it has a continuous heat rating of 2600 degrees with short term of 3300. I might try wrapping my headers with it lol. Made by cotronics, no affiliation or endorsement. http://www.cotronics.com/vo/cotr/fc_tapes.htm

Wraps = places for oil to accumulate = potential for fire = bad jujube

Better to have the headers ceramic coated. A few threads on here offer reasonable sources for the products and user experience.

I had cracked 2-3 and 1-4 headers. I found a local welding supply store that could get me the special Inconel filler rod, and had the headers welded. Just an option.

Mine fell apart at the upper flange and also broke in half 3 inches down past that, probably broken in more places under the heat shielding. Felt safer getting one that's in one piece instead of trying to piece it back together

Broken in half is definitely a different situation than cracks. My 2-3 was cracked right in the "crotch", and my 1-4 had one flange break off totally. Both easy fixes.

Anyway, +1 to ceramic coating. No experience, but I'd also be afraid of the wrap soaking and igniting.
