After recently repairing the Ac, which hasn't worked in many years, we noticed some fairly musty odors coming from the vents. Decided to clean the coils and install home made filters on the blower intake. After a quick visit to the local home improvement box, we came home with a can of coil cleaner, an electro static filter with carbon odor absorber and whole home filter freshener. After removing the blower housing, we vacuumed and blew high pressure air in the coils then sprayed the foam cleaning agent and let sit while working on the filters. We continued to blow air into the coils and respray foam two more time while finishing up the the filters. We resealed the blower fan housing base groove with black Window sealer and proceeded to install back into its position but it was extremely difficult and would not go back in with out some persuasion that I wasn't comfortable with considering that everything here is 30 year old plastics. So we separated the top half of the housing and the base fit with no problem. We noticed that two of the blades were broken on the fan and figured that to be the reason we have a bad vibration at certain fan speeds Ordered a new fan and everything works great. No more odors unpleasant odors.
