Wink glass sunroofs??????

Hi everybody, I turned 49 yesterday, now looking forward to the big 50 mark. Has there been any word as to whether the guy at toys for your toys has ever actually delivered any of the glass sunroofs he has been advertising.

My respects to you, sir. Are you a member of the Porsche Club of America? If so, you'll often find ads for glass sunroofs aka "saratoga tops," in the classified section of the club publication "Panorama."

Tell us more about your car!

I'm 48, so not too far behind. I am also curious about a glass sunroof for 1984 944, if anyone has a good source.

I have taken a ride in one with a glass roof. I actually did not care for it. It was loud in the car. very loud.

This was a while back, so they may be making them better quality now. When I was last at German Car Dismantlers i noticed a few there. So I know you can get used ones from them?

I'm only 40, so it'll be a few years before I'm interested in a glass sunroof! Just kidding.

I've seen the Saratoga tops installed and think they look good, but they sure fetch a premium price. I think I've seen them going on eBay in the $5-600 range (used).

I had a Saratoga top in my car and agree with bdellis. There was too much wind noise and the glass flexed and rumbled over irregular road surfaces, compounding the already noisy rear hatch. I hated it most of the time and would only install it to impress a date. On the plus side it gave my all-black interior a bright and airy greenhouse feel. I think the rarity of the Saratoga tops is keeping used prices high.

I have one and it has been really quiet, no rattles or wind noise. I took it out for the stock panel though because the glass roof caused a weird reflection in the rear view mirror that I didn't like. I'd be happy to sell mine. Contact me by P.M. if you are interested.
