I've decided on the spec stage 1 push type clutch, for the money it seems like a very good deal and it replaces all of the parts associated with the clutch. You also get a lightened flywheel and a lot of holding capacity with a stage 1 disc. I've been reading and researching all the options and it doesn't seem like you can really do a quality clutch job for under $1100, the Lindsey kit all in with the flywheel and all new hardware is $1360, not exactly cheap but what is for these cars. At least when it's done there won't be any questions about old parts that weren't replaced.

Might as well spend the extra $500 and get a mini twin.

Any status on your Spec-1 update? I just pulled my 87 951 with a Spec 1 where the engine was rebuilt buy Lindsey Racing and there were bright spots on the stock flywheel and the car always shuttered when in 1st gear or reverse. I am now resealing the RMS and Oil cooler and am replacing the Spec with a Turbo Cup/HD 930 disc. Any update would be nice to compare notes.

i actually ended up installing a Spec scalloped flywheel, 930 disc and a KEP stage lite pressure plate, I ran that up to about 375 whp and it felt and held great. I recently switched over to a 3.0 and went back to a stock flywheel, 930 disc again and a KEP stage 1 pressure plate. Also feels great just like stock, pedal is slightly heavier.

What type of clutch would that beast your son took me for a ride in need?
Wasn't that close to 600hp?

KEP makes a Stage Lite now? How is the pedal feel and do they rate it for any particular power level?

stage lite is 400 ft lbs, pedal feel is pretty much same as stock.

Interesting. Is it their own design like the Stage 1 and 2, or is it a Sach-style PP with the fulcrum point changed (like South Bend and others do)? KEP makes a great PP, but their website started bad and has gotten worse over time.

Not sure what the stage 1 looks like but
I would have to say it’s the lite is the same design as the stage 1 because ultimately I sent the stage lite back to them to upgrade to a stage 1. All they changed was the spring.
