Not quite everything, but pretty close! I'm not running a PS pump so the paint on those studs was on purpose. Any mating flange (intake, exhaust, oil filter, etc) or exposed holes were taped and covered before painting.

Going with a wrinkle finish red for the cam cover and black for the pulley's and ancillary bits.

Well, I'm sure that each type of welding work needs its own type of electrode. Some welders are sure that separate welding machines are required for different jobs, but I think this is already for too high-quality work that professionals do. I think if you are going to do some responsible and painstaking work on welding, then you should consult with a qualified welder about the choice of equipment or ask a question on a forum dedicated to welding. But I think if you are not a professional, it is better not to take risks and call professional welders.
