Heaviest Stock Diameter Springs???
Trying to determine exactly what springs/rate I have on my car (w/o taking them off and checking). I'm pretty sure they are the 250 Weltmeister "autocross" lowering springs...
But was wondering if there are any other generally available stock diameter, aftermarket lowering springs with a higher rate? (>250lbs.) I haven't seen any (doesn't mean they don't exist...).

Keith - Bilstein coilover. Not sure of the spring rates on these because everyone tells me something different. I think they are in the same area.
Sorry, can't sell this stuff. - Jim

Special Tool:
I just bought a 1989 944T and want to install Bilstein coilovers with Turbo Cup progressive springs. The problem is I cannot find the front strut lower spring perches to fit the large 3.3 in. spring i.d. Would you please advise me what you are using and if possible, provide me the P/N of the perches you have and where you acquired them? I am stuck without the perches. Thank you!

Hey, I got some 944NA springs which are lower etc for free off a Porsche local, and when trying to fit them to my car they appear too wide, as per the mechanic. What gives? I thought they were similar between all types? Can I get around this somehow? Help! Sorry for the post stealing thingy...

I dont know of any aftermarket springs stiffer than the weltmeister 250 lb/in that fit the OEM fixed perches. Weltmeister also makes a 200 lb/in spring, which would be hard to tell the difference between when mounted in the car.
The OEM M030 height adjustable Konis will take the Club Sport/Cup Car progressive wound springs (approx 405-410 lb/in), but these springs wont fit the standard strut (non M030) fixed bowl perch.
The US Escort and Firehawk/Club Sport cars with Koni suspension will have the same perches as an M030 Turbo S or S2 because the double adjustable race Konis have the same body diameter as the single adjustable sport yellow and OEM M030. Which is why the Cup Car springs will fit on an M030 strut.
I recall that the Bilstein body is a smaller diameter than the Koni. So the perches for the Euro Cup cars (Bilstein) will be different than the US Spec Escort and Firehawk Cars (Koni). Part numbers I found for the Cup Car perches are 951 343 525 33 for the lower seat and 951 343 524 01 for the locking/jam nut. It would be worth getting a cross reference on the numbers because I dont have PET access and cannot verify that these number are not the standard Turbo S/M030 parts (Koni).
I believe the rear coil overs for the Cup/Escort (both Bilstein and Koni) cars had a slightly progressive spring rate in the range of 250-300 lb/in (I was told around 270 lb/in by a guy that had both a club sport S2 and an Escort Series Turbo), running in combination with the larger 25.5 mm torsion bars (Turbo S/M030).
