Default Ventilation Fan Speed Weirdness

Noticed something this weekend driving home from a PCA event. Trying to determine if normal behavior or if there's a problem.

The car had been sitting in 90 degree sun for a half day or so. This is on an 86 944 Turbo, 39K miles. Original R12 AC system still works !

#1 -- Started car. Fan on 2. Pressed AC button and the fan speed increased somewhat. (weird, right)

#2 -- Sitting in traffic a few minutes after starting car, the AC fan speed was acting a bit variable. A few times, it sped up or slowed down by itself without me touching the fan speed dial. I know this is automatic climate / temperature regulation, but is this normal behavior (or could it be a bad fan resistor, etc?)

#3 -- I have been noticing alot of clicking from a relay which I believe cycles the AC compressor? Under dash area. Normal ?

Thanks in advance for any pointers on whether this is normal or not for a 944.

Check your fan resistor pack, it may need to be changed.
