Default Great 924GTP restoration video

Well worth watching to see a bit of history and front engine transaxle heritage.

When I finished watching that video there was another video showing the 'reveal'. Shot independently and not as polished but you got to see the car start and drive off. Engine sounded like it was missing or a leak perhaps.

Interesting to see where the turbo was on the 2 engines. The one that came out was on the exhaust side in front and the one that went back in looked like a much lower mount on the more traditional side.

I'd say that was due to the motor coming out not being the same one that went back in?

I understand the motors were switched. I just find it curious as to the different turbo plumbing arrangements Porsche went through before they landed on the one they went to production with. I wonder how many arrangements they actually went through before they landed on the one they did and what compromises each design had.

I think the turbos were on the traditional side on both engines? You may be mistaking the water pump at the front on the exhaust side.

Indeed Jim. I think the fuel economy was a major bonus for them also in that race. They didn't have to come in nearly as much as their competitors.
