Default '88 or '89?
The build date on my car is 8/1988. It's not Silber Rosa, but which year would my car be considered?

If the 10th position in your VIN is:

J it is an 88
K it is an 89

It's a K, so it's an '89. I wasn't sure what the cut off date was between model years.

I think it's between June and July (first half or second half of the year). But the VIN letter is the way to know for sure.
