Default 6 speed conversion

I have bought a 968 six speed plus the axles and the linkage and I'm wondering what additional parts are needed to to do a successful conversion for the 944 turbo. Also, does anyone know how to reactivate the speedo? the 6 speed trasaxle does not have the tap for the speedo.

TIA

968 uses ABS system for the speedo.

You got all of the parts you need for the conversion. There is a way to make the Speedo work based on the ABS signal.

We all know those 6 spd's can be expensive, mind letting us in on what you paid for it, with linkage and axles?

I talked last year with OK Foreign and they wanted $3500 complete.

If you don't have ABS, there was a post a while back regarding this subject. A racer in CA did the conversion by installing a trigger wheel at the half shaft and added the electronics to convert the signal...
Search the archives, hopefully the info is still accessible.

Fast951 is on the right track on this one. You can add a wheel sensor to one of the front wheels and than take a signal from that to run the speedo in your car. You'll need to source some of these parts from a company that makes computers and sensors for Pro-Rally cars. Try these guys, they are very good: http://www.rally.cc/

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I have the 6 speed conversion in my 1990. The wheel sensor is picked up from an extra gear placed on the half shaft and using sensors from terratrip (a rally navigation system) with a converter box in the middle to accurately calibrate the speedo. The gear came from a Lamborghini Muira S, if that is any help, which I doubt it is.

Hmm... why dont you use the stock 951 pick-up sensor with the magnet from an old tranny? (i think its a magnet mounted in the dif) then mock up a mount for the sensor off the tranny, over the cvjoint, and tie wrap the magnet to the cvjoint, to see if this will work. if it works, JB weld the magnet to the CVjoint and add a counterbalance to the other side of the cvjoint.
