Angry Another MAP Question

Another Sunday afternoon trying to get her to idle without stumbling and stalling.

When I remove the 1.8k from the line going to the oxygen sensor my air/flow readings swing between 12.4 and 16.34 in cell 305 Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this normal? Thanks in advance

I'm curious to know how you are tuning your'e car with stock 02 sensor?

From what i know that 02 sensor is not made to dialing in your'e af ratio very in-acute.

I tried that with MY Swiss's car we thought we had ar ratio Farly close, but when he got to dyno ar was way off.

The Serial Link allows you to hook up your laptop to the Link Module. This allows you to capture information as RPM, MAP, TPS, OXY, AFM, VECU, GAIN and ZON. With this information I am able to calculate the MAP's zone (load and boost) and the airflow ratio. Ultimately, you are correct in that I have to go to a dyno to find out how accurate this information is.

However, several owners stated that they were able to minimize the off throttle stumble and the occasional stall. I guess that these issues bother me more as I spend a good part of my daily commute in stop and go traffic.

I was warned not to spend too much time (which equals money) at the dyno as these issues will not go away. So, as a direct result, I am doing my best to try to minimize these issues before I go and spend my hard earned money.

this is an actual example of what the information looks like (first to second). Please don't use this as an endorsement of the system. The turbocharger is great. However, I could use some help in getting this sorted out better. Thanks in advance for anyone's help. ed

Did you see this thread -> Tuning the Link MAP

OZ951 provided some really good info on working with the LINK and the serial logger. Read through the whole thread - there's some excel sheets that will help you plot out the data from your serial link.

I'm going to be going through all my MAP settings again in a couple of weeks after I install a few new toys.

Thank-you for your response. I read the tread and was a contributer to it (excel spreadsheet) Several have asked for it and I sent it to all that asked that I know of. That is where I got the 1.8k.

However, my question is this. With the 1.8k resistor removed my air/flow swings (as it should). However, according to my data log, in cell 305 I see a swing from 12.75 up to 16.75. Is this normal as I think that this is the reason for my uneven idle. In addition, I am concern about the lean 16.75 I will be going to MA that has an emissions test. Thanks in advance.

Mine is the same, with the o2 sensor in closes loop it swings about the same as you are describing, does not runas well in part throttle either. I find to run half decent in closed loop the base settings have to be on the rich side. I would say get it running hald decent in closed loop, pass the test (good luck) and then pop the resistor back in....Let us know how the test goes.

af meaning air/flow or air to fuel ratio?

If you have a swing there probably is some control system in work. Either your lambda sensor is not switched off (double check) or the idle control is still moving (idle switch).
Just guessing.

Sorry for not reading carefully enough.
I assume you mean with the lambda sensor actuated.

Cell 305. Isn't that with load 3 and rpm 500-1000? With low rpm you will have a swing. That's how it works.

Oops - I guess I should re-read that thread. Sorry about that.

Thanks Guys

By the way you're right, I meant air/fuel. What the hell was I thinking.

B951S - What is your air/fuel ratio in cells 205, 305, and 405 to get your Baby to run decent with the 1.8k resistor in? Thanks in advance ed
