Aluminum torque tube will lose another 25# but it's a real job to put in.

Well,
You can start here...

This my 944 NA spec car and is about 2400 lbs (lost about 400) with the cage in place. Still has stock glass and steel body work. I could go with Lexan and fiberglass to further save weight, but this not legal in my class and I already added 50lbs back in to make weight.

How much weight could you lose if you got rid of the seats in the rear, installed carbon fiber fenders, hood, and nose panel, rear bumper, got rid of the AC, and got lightweight driver and passenger seats, and lexan windows?

Not even close you moron. For God's sake, look at M758's post. Sorry just trying to emulate the guys from the DSM board. Maybe I should type some sorry laugh emulation while I'm at it. Not.

I'm not an expert or even very versed in weight reduction how-to in these cars... so correct me if I'm wrong (which I'm someone here will do :-)

But you're starting out with an earlier car which weighed a lot less to begin with.

I have a 88 951, and I've replaced the carpet, door panels, dash, center console, and more (replacing the dash and steering wheels with a non airbag dash and non airbag steering wheel).

And although I've saved some weight, it's been no where near even 100lbs.

The carpet, and back seats together can't weigh more than 35lbs max.

The difference in the dash/steering wheel - non airbag combo vs airbag combo can't weight more than a 25lbs difference.

Door panels weight almost nothing as does the center consol. Figure a max of 5lbs here.

Even deleting the dash entirely would probably drop only 25-35lbs.

The drivers seat is 4 way electric. The passengers is full manual. The passengers didn't fell much heavier than the sparcos I had sitting in my garage at the time.

Again... these are guesstimates as I never took a scale and weighed anything.... but I can't see anywhere close to 150lbs - 175lbs by deleting the entire interior off of my 1988 951 based on all the stuff I pulled out.

Which brings me to my original point... are you not sure that your low weight is a result of the fact that you have an early car?

Did you weight all the stuff you removed to account for the weight?

Thanks,

I have an early car a little more stripped than this, it has no dash at all, hollow doors, no windows, lexan quarter windows, stock body work other than an aftermarket 951 look nose... we got it to 2300lbs with a roll bar and one seat.
