The feel of driving a freed wild beast, from stoplight to stoplight in the city...

Dunno - it's far from my daily driver, so I want it to be less accomodating, it'll be more fun and more of a different feel to hop into.

Just noticed the typo in my last reply, meant to say I've already "got" the solid tranny mount, though I'm not installing any solid mount until I get all of them together.

We've been discussing the Vertex mounts over on the 924/944/951/968 forum as well. The units I received look exactly like those picture here, from Paragon:

http://www.smartcart.com/Paragon/images/944_mm.jpg

They have an OEM part number, and are on the site as OEM.

However, as I stated over there as well, I'm definitely calling Vertex Auto tomorrow morning to make absolutely sure that I'm getting what I paid for.

Wish me luck.. will post soon...

My experience with Vertex is that they sell crap. Everything I bought from them pads, (had to redo), power steering pump (leaked not once but twice), fuel pump (failed within a year) and so on. It seems that they sell secondary parts that did not meet Porsche's standards. I called and tried to clear up the problems but after ten phone calls I gave up. I wouldn't even order a simple washer from them. Reno

I have the Blue supermounts in my race car (track only). They are great so far. I used to have the Kokeln puple solid mounts .. and the car almost vibrated to death. Most of my oil pan bolts fell out.
I do not reccomend using any kind of solid engine mounts or tranny mount on a street car. There is no real need for it .. and it puts incredible stress on the engine and transmission.

944turbo, do you still have your old solid mounts around, by any chance?

Default Lance:

Zim's website has "German Aftermarket" motor mounts on for $50.95 (951 375 042 04A), and "Genuine Porsche OE" motor mounts (951 375 042 04) for $104.95. Every reputable place I checked has had both the aftermarket motor mounts for about US$50 to $55, and the OE (not OEM) Porsche mounts for $100-$110. I doubt that you will find the Porsche mounts for less than $100 apiece. I chose to go with the OE Porsche mounts from 944Online (I really do not want to replace them again), now you get to make your own choice.

Nope, wasn't me. I know my car has an evil twin (another Linen 951 or 944S2) that also lives in Burnaby somewhere, but I have never caught up with him. Both my brother and my wife have honked/waved at him and later asked me why I wasn't at work, etc.

Any news from the frame shop?

It's over at Burrard, Johns says it's easily fixable, just not sure $$$ yet, but we should have it done by next week.
Engines torn down to the nuts and bolts, will start the rebuild process when I get the car back, this will be a determining factor on the rebuild budget, hopefully enough left for new motor mounts oh and a maf, wastegate, test pipe.......

Well, after paying $100 apiece for these and posting that you would not find OE motor mounts for less, I found these at 944Racing . They claim to be OE, not aftermarket, and look identical to the ones I paid twice the price for. They are listed at $49.79 apiece.
