Default Cleaning cooling reservoir?

Guys,

Looks like I have some residue in my cooling reservoir... any thoughts on cleaning the stuff out?

Thanks,
Paul

I remember reading a thread or two on the subject if you search around. I believe some folks had decent luck with coffee grounds?

I tried it all including peroxide and UV light . The new ones are expensive but I could never get the same clear white out of my old one. Hard to read the coolant level regardless of how hard I tried to clean it.

I tried EVERYTHING including peroxide and every other thing on the net. Best results was truck cleaner and baking beads (the ceramic ***** my wife used for keeping pasty shells in shape - no I wasn't popular!!) ... I ended up corresponding with the manufacturers of the tank and the original ones were actually off white and have become more yellow with age. The new white ones are a different type of plastic. Cheaper to buy a new white one that try and clean one unless you are willing to work for half minimum wage! Very hard to clean because full of baffles.

Don't waste your time trying to clean your reservoir. The interaction of the coolant has leeched into the plastic reservoir and stained them and no amount of cleaning will ever get them back to even 50% opacity.

Lart may have some fairly new ones for a few bucks. If you have a dry turbo, or are willing to do a little fab work, I have a SFR "used to be polished" aluminum overflow tank.

Stainless steel reservoirs look super cool and don't crack with time... Wouldn't waste your time cleaning this one. Won't make much of a difference and your reservoir is going to crack soon anyway.

That's the best advice. Lindsey racing and speed force racing offer the aluminum coolant expansion replacements. LR is a little cheaper in price.

This one's easily bought. Pic prior to needing cooling lines for the Garrett/TIAL HTA turbo and ceramic heat emitter/rejection treatment.

PM me - Lart type pricing.
