I have a 88 turbo s. The aluminum wheels have a white stain. It could be an acid stain. How can the surface be restored?

Turbo S cars have special anodized Club Sport wheels and if the finish has been exposed to the wrong kinds of chemicals from a wheel cleaner, there's little (if anything) you can do. You can always re-anodize them, of course, but that's an expensive proposition. Otherwise, using petroleum jelly or wheel wax is the only way I know of to minimize discoloration.

Before you do anything, try cleaning with P21S, drying, then rub in vaseline (petroleum jelly), then buff it all out with a soft dry cloth. This is per your owners manual - and it works wonders. You can find a previous post of mine in it. Mine had milky white / cloudy parts - no more.

If all this fails, send them to Wheel Enhancement and get them re-anodized.

Try wet sanding them and then applying clear I did this with some success on my sewer lids and it helped a lot.
