Also there are 3 forward seals:
1. Main seal
2. Thin mylar seal
3. O-ring between the housing and cover
Thanks,
David

yeah, sorry. When facing the front of the car it is on the drivers side. I know there are many parts to this seal. I replaced all of them with in the lat 4k miles when I built the engine. I am replacing a water pump right now and descovered a leak from the fron of that balance shaft. I guess would think that the main seal would be what is causeing this. That is the what I thought was the part number after looking at PET, but when my parts place pulls it up it comes up as camshaft seal.

According to the Turbo Workshop manual on page 15-5 the camshaft seal (32 x 47) and upper balance shaft seal (30 x 47) are no longer the same size. The part number for the cam shaft in the workshop manual is DG 32 47 7RF01 or PET 999 113 349 40. The part # 999 113 282 40 is the correct part number for the upper balance shaft - just don't use it for the cam shaft.
Also, you might want to purchase the balance shaft seal arbor to install the seal. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...section=miscel

This will ensure proper installation of the seal. It can be difficult to install properly without the arbor because the shaft has some play in it - front to back. Hope this helps!
