some thermostat questions

Let me rephrase the question. The regular thermostat has a black sealing ring that fits around it. Does the turbo t-stat have one of these as well? What are the effects of running without one?

I believe its the gasket, It supposed to seal one, but in my experience (read: not much!) it really didn't affect anything. Might be good to put on anyway, its really cheap...
