Sure why not ! The only problem is our location, Finland is another side of this planet comparing to New Zealand

I'll have to strongly consider that... at least it'd be a lot warmer there I think (almost winter time over here...)

Ehumm... Sweden is pretty close!
There's about three people/companies that does the same thing over here but it would be interesting to hear what it costs in Finland?

hey guys, any updates or testing??

Also I was wondering what you used for fabing the pieces?? Just some cast aluminum plates or what?

I have been thinking about also increasing the size of the tubing to increase flow.

Thanks

Homemade/Ghetto IC, just pop your hood, but make sure it is still latched.

That flows a TON more air

Yep, much more air. Right up until the latch breaks.

The design is not a fault. If it were, you'd first off all, see it on both sides.

The design was intentional, and intended to equalize flow across the core.

Did you really think Porsche would design something like that for no reason? It's pretty obvious.

Then why modify anything? Because you have a different set of goals and circumstances than the factory did. Maybe they would have desinged it differently if the car had a bigger turbo than a k26. The fact stands that Lindsey Racing's research proves that this is a worthwhile mod.

Tony you are definitely right about the shape being condusive to equal flow across the rows. Thats pointed out in "Maximum Boost". But equal flow does not have to mean Maximum flow.

Actually, it does. Read up on that "maximum boost" book you have, and maybe some other thermodynamics books as well.

However, I won't make a comment on if I think this is a worthwhile "mod" or not.

Sammi Wrote: >>>Looking at a 951 stock intercooler it's obvious there's a problem with the incoming end tank.<<<

All I said was that the end tank design was very intentional. The design was probably done on a computer using the anticipated flow numbers for a stock 951 (and for where they intended to take the 968, ie 968 Turbo .. since it uses the exact same intercooler).

The mod shown here, and the one performed at Lindesey are clearly intended to get more air through the end tank.

Whether it works or not is another story (and I'm not saying that it doesn't).

Again.. All I meant is that Porsche designed that tank for a very specific reason, which is clearly evident. That said, it's not something that was just "guessed" at, as it's a very specific design.

Take it for what it's worth.. nothing more, nothing less.

Personally, what I would have done, is to baffle the larger end tank to not only get more flow, but to get the distribution even (also illustrated and talked about in Maximum Boost).

Nice looking job, guys, but I hate to say that it was really only worth the fun as a hobby. You'll get much more gains by just making sure you keep the IC free of oil inside. Best is a remote crankcase vent. The IC becomes an issue when you you start shootin' for upwards of 350 horsepower. Then you're going to have to do a hell of alot more than the freakin' end tanks.
