Default AC Line removal with engine in car

Hey all - can the AC lines from the evaporator to the compressor and from the dryer to the evaporator be removed with the engine in? These are the two hard lines that run up past the driver's side shock tower and along the fire wall.

I've got some really rotted looking hoses and would like to get the lines rebuilt with barrier hose. The car will have to limp through this summer but come fall we will go to battle on the lines.

Thank you,
Mark

It is possible. When I replaced one of those a few years ago I think I had to bend the brake lines just a little. It was a tedious and difficult job. I wish I had replaced them both...

Grant - Thank you. I don't mind tedious jigsaw puzzle in 3d type problems as long as there is a possible solution.

Mahoney - these are the lines that run from the ac compressor to a connection on the firewall behind the cam tower. Pulling the manifold will not uncover these lines unfortunately.

It can be done but it is a SERIOUS PITA.
It is much easier if your fingers are as thin as chop sticks and have about four extra joints.

It gives you more room to reach in to the connections, I just did this recently. It just gives you more room to flop your arm and hand into that sweet spot lol. Not necessary, but helped me.

I was thinking about removing the manifold this morning and if it would give more room as I was getting ready to head off to work. So I popped the hood and took a quick look thinking "I'm going to owe Mahoney an apology if I was totally wrong about this." I'll have to actually try to reach in there with a wrench and my chopstick skinny quad-jointed fingers to see if it has to be done. Thank you for the heads up! and for explaining it to me. I'm a bit dense at times.

I had the engine out and it was still a pain in the butt.
