A lot of the V8 guys do this:

Although a semi-circle profile may be better than V-shaped.

fwiw...we found a massive oil pressure loss on my old motor via the retro fitted squirters. When it came to the new motor we just sealed them off as we didn't want to have to go through that again.

Interesting! Is there a difference in the 968 oil pump?

A well respected indy told me Porsche only fit the squirters in case the car is used hard before it is up to full working temp, and not to bother fitting them.

You guys use a crank scraper? Anyone? If so what's the oil pressure difference?

Not sure on that Eric but we were running off dry sump. This was when we first installed the 3.1 motor into the car. We immediately had very low oil pressure. Paul chased it and discovered that it was pouring out of the sides of the squirters. Didn't make sense but we just blocked these off and had obvious immediate increase in oil pressure. As a side note, we never had huge pressure in that motor. It was probably max 65 psi from memory. The new motor came with squirters but Paul just blocked them to start with to remove the chance of the same thing occurring. We were showing 90 psi on the dyno for the new motor. Even that might seem a tad low if we use the 1 bar per 1000rpm mantra however race motors often show less pressure than this. Perhaps due to new motors and lighter oils. We're still using a 25w/60 at the moment.

Assuming you mean J.M. ?

No scraper or X drilling.

Not neccessarily saying that don't use squirters under any circumstance. Just passing on my experience. I've heard opposite views on both scrapers and X-drilling cranks.

What's the general experience retrofitting these 968 oil squirters to cool pistons?

Default How much do the 968 squirters flow at 4 bar pressure?

Does anyone have an estimate of how much do these 968 oil squirters flow at, say, 4 bar pressure? I’m trying to figure out how they are sized vs my cooling needs.
