'Porsche 968 GTR Oreca' ![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
Definitely looks like it's been cleaned up and possibly modified from memory.

The car is in the Detroit area and the photos are at the Waterford Hills race track during their historic race weekend. I met the owner earlier this year and he got the car in trade. He has cleaned it up mechanically since he got it.

What sort of Class would it run in and against what opposition? How did it place when you saw it?

Although I was not there at the time, it ran a 1:15 at Waterford Hills (posted results), small 1.4 mile twisty, difficult track. This is not a good time, my best is a 1:10:7. Hopefully it has produced better results elsewhere. That is the only actual/documented time I have seen. When I race there they place me in GT1 which is a class for tube framed ex-trans am cars with around 600 HP and straight cut gears.

There are a number of good reasons for doing so: it frees up space in the engine compartment, it keeps the alternator much cooler for reliability, and if there is a bearing failure, it won't throw an engine drive belt and possibly cause collateral damage in the engine compartment.
Plus, if it did fail during a race, it'd be pretty easy to swap out.
Awesome, awesome car!
