tags on the turbos. -951s
i have to replace my turbo for the upcoming season
i run rather heavy, trying hard to get down to 3060 lbs which is what is good for my declared configuration of 951s.
I am trying to ensure i have the right core, the mechanic is not fluent in the k26/8 naming convention for some reason, but inisists it should a 4001? part number on the tag.
I would hate to go through this and end up underpowered. overweight is a given
1) Whats the real difference on k26/8 vs k26 if all else remains equal?
2) Does anyone have a list of part numbers that appear at the bottom of the tag.
3) are k26/8 cores hard to come by?

The K26/8 has a larger hot side than the 26/6. A suggestion I would make is contact Charlie Brown at Evergreen Turbo in Fla and have your current turbo rebuilt. It will come back better than new and legal. Unfortunately, I don't have his number on hand, but you should be able to Google it.
