Default safe reliable modifications

I know it has probably been asked countless times, but here it comes again. I am interested to find out what kind of mods are completely safe for my engine. I don't want to have to worry about an old engine just for some mods, if thats at all possible. What kind of things can I get on to my car that really don't hurt reliability at all? I already have a boost enhancer on there. Those chips everyone has, how are they on an engine? thanks a lot everyone!

I'd recommend you search the archives (sheesh... just go back a few pages..) for your answers. This question has been asked 1,000,000 times here...

If you are running a boost enhancer you are running lean without other modifications = not safe for your engine.

Eyal, polishing the cam cover does nothing for power, but it is safe.

I would suggest Guru chips for $300, great value, good performance, relatively safe.

As suggested before safe modifications is a bit of an oxymoron.

Eyal 951, just give a call to Danno he will answer all your questions, some of the other tunners don't have much time unless you are spending 1000x of dollars with them. Danno knows his stuff. I am a rookie too, but I am glad I went with Guru, just give Danno plenty of time and he will install the chips and tune your car as well. His prices are very reasonable. And you will be amaze how your car runs with his chips.

Btw I had Autothority chips before and I end up blowing my head gasket 3 times.

The boost enhancer will enhance (raise) your boost without adjustments to the fuel, hence your car will run lean. The guru chips are setup to handle this higher boost with more fuel = safe.

Eyal,
if you are increasing maxboost over stock levels, you will run lean with stock chips, dangerous.
An upgrade like the guru-racing chipset keeps air and fuel in balance and puts a huge smile on your face for 300, just do it!!
AN aftermarket boost gauge would be a good investment also, so you can dial in 15-16psi accurately.

Condolences accepted. haha, imagine whta it would be like being away from your perfectly good working 951 from august to decmeber, I MISS MY CAR! anyone have an answer on the boost enhancer question?
