Default heating up lately

ever since i got the car it's always been between the two white marks. for the past two times i took her out and opened it the temp seems to go over the second tick mark, then backs down again, it's just it never went this far before. any clues
coolant level has always been in the middle.
how often should i change coolant?
can i just add some additives to correct it?
pump belt is snug no slippage
no leaks
though ambient temp here is about 100+, does this affect the temp this much?

You've got air....

Park your car on a incline (nose up), put the heater on full bore, unscrew the overflow cap, let it run up to operating temp, crack the bleed screw untill coolant comes up, and rev it up a little 10 seconds at a time, every minute or so. Repeat untill you see no more bubbles coming into the overflow tank.

Another way is to get a 9mm grease fitting, attach a clear 1/4 hose to one end, remove the bleeder bolt, attach grease fitting with hose and place other end in the overflow tank. Follow the above instructions.

You will send the coolant back to the tank and see the air bubbles (NO MESS). It may take up to 20 - 30 minutes before the air bubbles are gone. Key is getting the nose of the car in the air!

Or, use an old overflow cap (rad cap), remove the spring e.t.c, drill a 1/4" hole and install a tire valve. Install the cap on the overflow tank. Open the bleeder and use a manual air pump and pump until the bubbles disappear; nose of the car in the air!

I bought a mity-vac pump for this. Hooks up to your air compressor to create a vacuum and then switch directions for filling with anti-freeze. Easy, quick and always works! Then, top off with water wetter.

If you are standing in front of your car its on the left hand side just below and to the front of the fuel rail.
