Hey Bret - moving on from the 951 world? I hope all is well
The car is just sitting, someone needs a little dyno time and she is back. The car is a hoot to drive but after my son graduates and is college bound, we are probably going to cut back and that may mean just a small two car garage in a smaller home or patio home or condo at the beach. So with the MasterCraft and Seadoo, something has got to go from my end, from either a garage or storage point. With Jim being extremely busy and having the 930 and 944 turbo, the track car is sitting around more than making tracks at a track.
I'll fire it up this weekend with a hot battery, I hope I don't change my mind when I hear that exhaust note...
For anyone considering this purchase - which is a great deal - I picked up Blacky (1987 951) from Bret not long ago and can attest to him being an honest stand up guy that really knows these cars. GLWS
We have a deposit. We thought it was a very good no haggle price. Not to mention the spares and original P Car tools that come with it, spare engine block, intake, x-over, starter, all new fuel hoses and filter for the gas tank, etc.
Jims 944 turbo is not getting driven a lot since he has the 87 930 with new motor from Pat Williams Racing in Memphis, so his "Red" might be coming to Heber Springs.
A lot of good memories driving the #186 JABracing car...the pucker of diving into turn one at TWS and watching Bret running for cover after popping the motor at HMS...makes me smile, we're going to miss her.
Sold to gumpyf14d, car and trailer were delivered day before yesterday, he arranged pick up. I had 4 new wheel bearings put on the trailer so it had a nice ride to Jacksonville FL to his dads house. He has already taken it out for a drive, car ran great on reduced boost of course, finish up the small wiring details, dyno and tune, and should be off to the track.
Damn, have to change avatar...
Absolutely Jim, that car was a hoot to drive and at DE's it did not get passed by much in Blue and White run groups. I remember you burning a Vette in South TX and me going past a Viper at Hallet. The thing is with both of us running the car, it did double duty for almost 5 years where normal track cars get 4-8 runs a weekend, this did 10-14 depending on how long we stayed, with cool downs while the Green groups when out. We spent more on Hotel, Travel, and Race Gas than the car - it was Sooooo Reliable until #4 rod broke. We built a pretty good motor and I built the present one the same way...
