Frame damage at front sway bar mount
Has anyone experienced their frame cracking or breaking away where the front sway bar mount bolts up? Mine gave out before I pulled the motor, and I need to find someone to fabricate and weld a replacement plate at that spot so that I can re-attach the sway bar after the motor goes back in.
If you've done repair work here and happen to have some pictures of how you did it, I'd love to see it. I have some ideas on how to tackle it, but I would like to see how others have done it before I do anything.

I did find this thread from 2011 where jasonlp had a similar problem and oddjob posted some pics on how to reinforce the area to prevent future issues:

What I'm looking for are some pics of how the actual frame *at* the swaybar mount point was repaired? Trying to tack the broken piece back in place may not be possible for me because it looks like it was previously repaired and failed again. There may not be much material to work with.

I have done the exact same reinforcement on both sides of my car, as they tore during separate occasions; one of those times was at nearly 100 MPH while exiting a turn at Buttonwillow, and the resulting snap oversteer was "exciting" to say the least. This was with stock brackets/KLA braces and a 968 M030 front bar, which I soon ditched for the Tarett setup.
Unfortunately, the reinforcement on the passenger side worked a bit TOO well, and a few seasons later, the sheet metal around the reinforcement started to tear out.
Below are pics of the damage after I ground away the undercoating, followed by a pic of the repair piece ready to be welded. Sorry, no after-pics. I made a cardboard template and transferred it to a piece of sheet metal. I punched holes in its perimeter and rosette-welded it in place, and then applied primer, seam sealer, and paint/undercoating. It has held up so far, but we shall see!
With the engine out of the way, you should be able to do an effective repair much more easily that I did!
I am after Ira at Tarett to make me a pair of the billet mounts that his first run of sway bars used versus the thicker stock-style brackets of the later ones. It is the twisting and side-loading of the frame rails by the stock-style brackets that causes it to tear, KLA-style braces or not.

Someone used to sell the brackets MAGK944 just posted. Can't quite remember who -- but they can't be too hard to make. You can MIG-weld a nice thick plate on there first to deal with the crack, although you might need to shorten the bracket to compensate (or use adjustable ones).

I have a new, unused set of those brackets I would let go for $35 shipped in the US.
Just like these(only cheaper).
