Default Mahle 104.5 8v pistons

Are these pistons still available anywhere off the shelf? I've read plenty of old threads regarding this issue but I wondered if anybody knows where to source them?

I asked a Mahle dealer about a set around a year back, they got in touch with Mahle and then said they could get them.

Shameful plug, not giving them away but if you want a quality piston, here they are - https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...5-pistons.html

Looks like you're prepared to be buried with them if you don't get $1550

These are original ferrostan coated. Like OE pistons. OE can do 500.000 kilometers and still work good enough.

I dont think there are many new type ferroprint slipper skirt pistons in alusil blocks close to that number.

Mahle is also developing new coating to replace ferroprint. That in itself is a ferroprint tell-tale.

I had $300 lower offer on ferroprint 104.5 turbo slipper skirt pistons but choose ferrostan style since it is proven to work extremely reliable if set up properly.

I'd be cool with that price but after looking into the prep work needed on these alusil blocks it would seem that the UK no longer has a decent engineering base - the office worker pussyfication is almost complete!

I can have access to specialized workshops in Germany who do Alusil blocks with one hand tied behind their back, so if you are really willing to get a 3L block properly prepared we can always talk. Just saying.

All fine and dandy if Ferrostan and $1550 was all you had to pay, Euro import duties would push them closer to $2k.

Capricorn or Serdi not an option for Alusil ? Dry sleeves and JE's/Wossners seem a viable alternative.

Not in a position where I have to sell them, but thanks for the cheap shot.

$1,550.00 is a reasonable price.

Why? - Because it's what I paid for them/no profiting here, and because if you call Porsche Motorsports, who bought Andial whom I purchased them from, or call Lindsey Racing, at today's prices you will pay more. Two or three years ago, both Andial and Lindsey were selling them for $1,700.00 + freight. I don't imagine prices have gone down.

There are other piston options out there, but these are Mahles which as far as I know are still the gold standard for Porsche products.

I remember in the past you contacted me and wanted to buy them on the cheap. There are different mind sets. Just because you don't want to pay for them, or don't see the value, doesn't mean everyone agrees.

But hey, thanks for your interest!

These are old pistons. Old pistons sell on ebay frequently for $100 or even less.
