Default Stock Weight...

Anyone have a good idea as to the real stock weight of an 88 951
without ABS and other wise stock?
I need a good starting point for the Gtech I ordered.
Thanks

With a half tank of gas my guess is around 3050-3100...My car was 3150 with around 5/8 of a tank.

FYI The g-tech only needs weight to calculate HP/torque.

Well I can tell you what my 87 951 weighed - 17" Cup, SFR 3" exhaust - which I figure is an even swap between wheels and exhaust for weight, 3/4 tank of gas, it was 2822. For the dyno we made it an even 3000.

Ski, thats the lowest weight I've seen for any pretty much bone stock 951...

Where did you have the car weighed??

Mine was when I got it cornerbalanced at Eurotire (reputable place to those in the NJ area).

I just happened to look up the curb weight of my '89 earlier today. It's 2998 lbs (no driver or passengers).

Actually according to the definitions I've seen, curb weight does include a full tank of fuel and all fluids.

Adrial, at the dyno shop where I dyno the car. We jacked up the car, put in on four scales - I was good side to side to a bit off on front to back. Anyway,,I thought it was light as well. I did forget to mention that I have a lightened flywheel, but other than that, as far as removing weight, only the exhaust. Maybe the scales were off but Rick said they had just had them calibrated because they were doing several cars to "corner balance" for a couple of race cars. That's all I have to go buy,,,that makes me want to get it weighed somewhere else now....curious.....

That's a pretty amazing weight Ski. To compare, my stock 83 NA with no power steering, no cruise, manual sunroof, no options, 15" Cookies, 3/4 tank of gas, weighed in at 2812.

I guess I'll go with 3250 lbs, with fuel and 170 lb driver
Do you think that would be a good ball park figure?
Thanks

I have a full stripped out race car ..lexan, no ac, fiberglass hood, every single thing to lighten the car (except body panels) etc. etc. ... and my car weighs 2550 with full welded 8 pt cage and 1/2 tank of gas. WOW! 2800 is very light for a bisically stock car.

My '88 non-S has no ABS, no AC, no AFM, no cruise control, no rear seat top, no spare or tools or jack, no cargo area carpet. The exhuast is a custom 3" with cat and the wheels are factory 17" Cup wheels with Hoosiers (read "light"). No torsion bars. Stock seats.
With 1/2 a tank of gas and no windshield fluid the car weighed 2890lbs with no driver on a set of Longacre scales.

Stop off at the freeway scales. I have also used winery scales. W/O me, but with 1/2 tank 3040, inc. 3 ga. in water reservoir for I/C spray bar. No spare, just 2 perssurized cans of hope. No room.

I had my Turbo S corner balanced.

3320 with my 170 lbs weight in it. Included was 1/2 tank of gas. Standard spare tire & tool kit. Extras where supplemental tool kit of sockets and wrenches. 2 qts oil and 1 gallon of water.
