Default Speedometer lags

Just recently the speedometer on my 86T started to lag behind until I reach about 30mph.. Any idea why? It stays at zero til I reach about 30 then it's fine. Happens every time I come to a stop.

Have you cleaned grounds and checked the sensor at the trans?

I think you might need something like this. My car has speedo problems and I've checked the sensor on the trans. Have not yet installed this though.

It's probably the speedometer itself sticking in the 0 position. The sensor is pretty much a work/no work thing that sends ground pulses. When the car is going slow, there's not much force pushing the needle up, so the needle needs to rotate without any resistance when slow like that. Try going 15 mph and tap on the speedo to see if that frees it up. If so, you might pull the speedo and try cleaning and lubricating it to see if you can free it up.
