Just thought I would post this up as informational for those in or considering a move to CA and concerned about smog.

As I have had both '86 and '87 951s recently, and gone through CA smog for both, the maximum measurements are more stringent for '87+ cars.

Here are the maximum emission measurements for '86 -

Speed......HC ppm.....CO%......NO ppm
15mph.......115........0.57......... 1069
25mph.......75..........0.43.......... 669

Maximum measurements for '87+

Speed......HC ppm.....CO%......NO ppm
15mph.......81..........0.52......... 689
25mph.......63..........0.43..........730

These are numbers for the strictest of smog zones.

The 15 mph test for NOx is a real bitch for the '87+. I guess not as much to worry about if you have an '86.
