Finished CV joint replacement and repack - axle grease is obnoxious
Ohter than making a total mess of my work bench the install went pretty well. No issues with removal or dissassembly. Reassembly of cleaned joint went okay. new CV needed a lot of persuasion to go on the axle, if it ever needs to come off I will need a lot of patience.
Once joints were back on I repacked them with grease, and then one decided to come apart, jeez that grease tends to get everywhere when you are trying to get it back together.
Axle reinstall was no issue, torqued to 30 lbs, my cheeseheads were in excellent condition so I reused the ones on the repack joint.
All nice and clean now, runs great, noise is gone. This board proved useful as was clarks garage and other sites.
Now for some motoring.
