Default Car goes in to be remapped today. Predictions?

2.5ltrs 8v

K26/K27 hybrid
70mm throttle body
rebuilt and ported head
Ford Sierra RS intercooler
cleaned up manifold
Woessner pistons running in cast iron sleeves
LR dual port waste gate
electronic boost controller
Augtronic ECU - AFM delete, MAP based hardware/software
3" exhaust
5bar RRAFPR
Bosch 044 pump

I reckon (hope) we will see 350 crank hp, engine builder thinks we will see 400

Good luck. I'll be interested how the Augtronic performs as I'd like to go to a MAF/MAP based setup. Is that a RS500 size intercooler, I think the standard Cosworth one is smaller than the original 944 item. I've got a standard Cossie intercooler in the garage from when I fitted a 4x4 version on my RS Cosworth 20 years ago.

It is off a RS500, which made 500rwhp, so it must flow fairly well.

It is a full blown race car at 1100kg, with the emphasis on reliability - it should be able to survive 40mins qualifying at flat out and up to 3hrs races at flat out again. The beauty of the Augtronic ECU is that it allows switching between different maps at the press of a button on my laptop. May have to write several maps...

Still no call from the mapper - getting anxious now...

Is Tom at Augtronic doing the mapping?

At 1 bar I am going to guess 300 at the wheels

at 1bar with that current setup, you should have a strong motor. I'm actually surprised you kept an older turbo on a modded engine. You would have more gains going to a garrett GT/GTX series turbo.

I'm curious too!!

This 944 is almost a side project. I bought it as stop gap race car, then I realised it is eligible to race in the Youngtimer in Germany, mainly on the Nurburgring and the rest is history.

Did one test day in it - ran well, but smoked, pulled the head - valve guides shot, valves themselves shot, and cylinder 4 with a score mark. The car was otherwise so good, I decided to actually throw some cash and attention at it.

Decided to sleeve it and drop Woessner pistons, then we thought about working with the head within the rules. That led to a bigger throttle body and then was offered the freshly built hybrid K26/K27 for US$500. Hence we went with it.

We are fairly limited to what we can modify - there is a local 2.5 16v Turbo which has done 25,000 miles while pushing 420Whp, but I cannot be seen with the superior 16v head, or even the 2.7 intake valves or a ball bearing turbo or a 6-spd 968 box...

So it's as big as, and sitting right in front of your water radiator ? The RS500 had much more airflow to the intercooler than a 944 so I wouldn't get too excited about that 500 bhp .
