Age related hearing loss allows my neighbors to put up with any noise. Are you in a similar category perhaps ?

That's what I have and it's plenty tame.
I drove around without a muffler once and loved it. The spooling sound coming from the pipe along with the 'raw' mechanical exhaust note was badass. But being afraid of the extra attention it would attract I put on a muffler (partly because I had already bought it).

From time to time i remove my muffler just to fool around, its loud, crazy loud, but you got to love the sound specially when you tap the throttle and it pops longest ive driven it without muffler was about a week, my town cops could hear me geting home miles away, but i dont know never had a problem with them, maybe because its an old car and we have car shows every week where cops them self bring their stoooooopidly loud classics

Do you have any video of the setup?

Here are three
The first is from 1990 ( camera mounted in car ) Stock car except for exhaust
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Bcr-XQnBZY#t=132944 TURBO S vs 911 TURBO at The Glen '90 - YouTube[/url]

The 2nd one is from 2011 mic located outside trunk only 12 PSI boost, but you get the idea

The 3rd from 2012 ( GO Pro but mounted in front of car,) (so Mic is not located near the exhaust hence most of the sound is coming from engine bay )
Click on HD

Regards
Ed

I took out the first silencer, no cat needed here in 91 , and fitted a straight through back box, it sounded like a tractor and had more lag. Turbo sounded nice spooling up though.

As usual the sound isn't 100% of what it is in real life

Man my suspension was really squishy back then lol

Way too loud

Note to self: construct exhaust out of silencers.

I also am one that doesn't think a 3" straight pipe is too loud. Compared to my e36 M3 that had only one resonator, my 951 is way quieter. My neighbors don't complain, and have never been pulled over.
