what size is muffler will fit the 86 turbos?(pipe size)?

I think the standard exhaust size is 2 1/2, i'll know for sure tomorrow.

The Borla XR-1 mufflers are the best on the market. You can't go wrong. I would recommend the largest XR-1 you can fit back there as they are straight through mufflers with no back pressure, and therefore can use all the "muffling" they can get.

I run (3) XR-1's on my 951 with no cat. It's awesome sounding when you're on it, but very deep and low when you're not so as not to attract the attention of local law enforcement...


The one thing you DO NOT want to do is to use a chambered muffler like a Flowmaster. While the Flowmaster is an excellent muffler, it's not intended for turbo applications and you will lose power.

The turbo itself provides all the back pressure the engine needs thus the reason for not using a chambered muffler (ala Flowmaster).
