Bent clutch fork

Bent clutch fork
I think i bent my clutch fork.
After 2.5 hours on the track on friday my clutch wouldn't disengage. I was getting harder and harder to shift as the day went on. on the last session i could not shift at all and just left it in 3rd.
I just bled the clutch and nothing changed.
If i look into the inspection hole at the bottom and my helper/wife pushes on the pedal i can see the fork move nicely and i can see the TO bearing move a little. I'm not sure if it's moving enough as the fork blocks my view from seeing the entire travel.
Has anyone else broken or bent a clutch fork? Doing the clutch is a big pain. I did it twice already in the last 2 years.

They are known to break -- what pressure plate are you using? Heavy springs like the KEP2 have been known to do it. Sure the fork is moving enough to rule out a bad slave or master cylinder?
p.s. I may be the only one, but I don't think the clutch job is "that" bad on these cars, at least if you have the updated cross-over pipe.
P.p.s., sadly, new turbo clutch forks are no longer available from Porsche, so you'd need to find a spare...

I had a similar situation when I had my 951. The result was a cracked pressure plate diaphragm. If you fork does turn out to be bent/cracked I might still have my spare one from when I had a 951. It is new but its been sitting a bit and its for a 944 so you will have to open up the gap between the fingers a tad to fit the 951 TOB.

Ah, yes good call. KEP stage 2 pressure plate, cup clutch and stock flywheel. I find the clutch a pain in the butt and I have a 2 piece crossover. Taking the transmission off isn't too bad. Getting it back on is an exercise in patience and strength.
Damn, so what's the solution? How can anyone run a stronger PP without changing the fork every year?
That'll be a good aftermarket part, a stronger clutch fork.

Trp951, thanks for the info. In the end I have to take it all off whether it's the fork of the PP. I'll let you know about the fork. I think the 951 forks are stronger.... Right or wrong?

KEP will warranty the replacement if you are nice I had a KEP 2 when cracked my diaphragm. My clutch fork was a modified stock one which was done by Blaszak which he strenthens them as well as replaces the stock needle bearings with bushings which hold up alot better. IIRC it was about 100 to have him modify one.

The 944 and 951 forks have the same part number I had it side by side with my turbo one and there was no difference other than less material on the inside of the teeth to accommodate the larger TOB.

It's been discussed a 944na clutch is stronger all you need to do is have it machined to the 951 spec

I haven't taken the clutch out yet. My wife is due any moment now and I've been trying to get some last minute stuff finished.
Lart, this is the first time I've heard about an NA fork being stronger. If that's the case I will do that.

From what I remember, when my 86 951 fork cracked at the base curve, I compared it to an NA fork and found that the 951 fork was an NA fork milled to fit around the larger dia. 951 throwout bearing, so I had to machine a one off with more material at the base curve and fingers.
