Hits from the track pipe (pics)
Went to take a few laps at a local track today... man, I'm definately loving the ways the 951 just flies!
wroooom!!!
fast uphill turn, third gear and full boost
so now I've experienced this too! doh! didn't take too long to fix though..
... back again, all out on the straight...
tires take a beating!
This guy was really *really* drunk...
back home again. What a great day!

I think now the hard pipes are definately on my "stuff I need to get" list ... too bad I'm not going to afford buying anything in the next few months, but eventually ...
Thom, here's the layout:
It is a fun track, lots of up/downhills, it's really tight - most of the time you're using 2nd and 3rd gears... raw horsepower doesn't mean much here, but it's still nice to be able to catapult out of the corners
One more pic of the drunken guy:

I went again last weekend! Yay! This time it was with a bunch of Japanese cars... it kinda sucks to see that their Civic Type R's, 200SX's and S2000's are turning similar lap times to what I'm getting, but then again I know I've still got a lot to improve upon... and the big difference is that I can easily do over ten laps in a row without cooking anything, where they seemed to pit in after maybe five or so
It doesn't show too well in this pic, but I'm wearing my tires out on the outside half..! Need to try different hot pressures first but I'm also suspecting the alignment isn't really up to the job (IIRC I've got about -1 deg camber up front..) ... the car is pushing just a bit too ...
Also tested the video recording on my camera; here's a quick drive-by:

Thanks Randy! I definately need to get a bigger memory card for my camera; in theory it could record up to one minute of video at a time (and as many clips as you can fit into the memory), but the stock 8mb can only hold ~40 seconds... (or ~30 pictures) ... pathetic!

Sami,
Awesome car, and very nice track.
About those Honda's: at our local track Zandvoort, I have been overtaken by the likes of Mitsubishi Colts, and a Volvo S40. To my defense, I was running a standard engine, and they were running turbocharged ones (Mitsubishi) and/or BTCC spec. When I had an "upgrade" running at 20 psi, and on the Spa/Francorchamps track, the same cars were nowhere near what I was running. So, I now have my first headgasket upgrade....
PS you need to make sure your car "leans" less in the corners, or you will have that uneven tyre-wear. Go for a stiff coil-over setup, dial in more negative camber, and those same Honda's no longer have a chance.....
Have fun

Did you shift to the 4th in front of the pit, and then back to the third during
the braking just before the uphill?
Or did you stay on the third all the way?

Wes-
you mean to tell me there are no club events or DE's at Mid-Ohio? That can't be too far from you right?
I'm hoping to get out to Watkins Glen International for some instruction and track time, hopefully I can post pics as well.
Looks fantastic Sami!
