Hey all,
When I extend the seatbelt fully in a newer model car, the seat belt goes into a lock mode, to lock in a child seat. I don't believe my 89 has this on the seat belts in the rear... Is there a way to activate this "locking" state?
For those who put child seats in the rear, how did you "lock" them in place with the existing seat belts?

Don't think the older cars will do that. You can get a locking strap dealie thing (I know, great description) from Babies R Us that'll work with your car and do what you want it to...

For those who may stumble across this on a search... I decided to go with a car seat that has a "load leg." The Cybex Aton 2 to be specific. Most European car seats now have the load leg, as the seat benches are smaller than in the US.
Hopefully it helps, no need for the ALR belt (technical term for the updated style of seat belt). This particular car seat accommodates not using a base unit, so it is taxi friendly, etc.
