Default Plx gauge in the 968 clock spot

I'm trying something for my boost and wideband gauge. I bought a 968 cubby with a clock and a plx devices dm-100 multi gauge. I want to put it in the location of the clock. I'll post my progress here.

I am a bit nervous about chopping into a brand new gauge...

I got the gauges from Vic an Pauer tuning. Great guy and he went out of his way to get the gauge for me. Apparently they are being discontinued.

So this was actually a lot easier than I thought. It took since I last posted to finish it. I should go buy a lottery ticket now.

I just put black electrical tape on the too and bottom of the plexiglass to hide the edges of the screen.

Also there was some gummy adhesive on the faceplate which I removed and stuck on the plexiglass.

Nice work.

I have also been using a PLX DM-100 (also supplied by Vic) but used a home-made wood cubby with the gauge located on the left side, as if located on the right side the gauge may not be perfectly visible when driving in 3rd or 5th gear as the shifter may be in the way.

Very clean install. A short shift will help with keeping the gear *** out off the way

I love the 968 cubbies, they make a nice clean place to mount something and still retain room enough to toss your phone/glasses/whatever.

I have my MBC in the same spot.

A little off topic, but has anyone installed gauges in the A/C vents without completely blocking them off?

Yeah I thought about the shifter being in the way, I tested it and it isn't too bad, but not perfect. I've seen some people put the plx gauge in the rear view mirror. If I get annoyed with the gauge hiding behind the shifter I might move it there.
It might even fit in the stock boost gauge location., but I'd be worried about it being too bright at night. Chris white put a boost gauge in the stock location but his has auto dimming.

I'll post some pics with it installed when I actually install it.

Scott,

The MBC looks good there. Where did you get the plastic piece to fit there?

I have my apexi there and with a short shift it's fine, got clear sight in all gears. 5th is where 3rd would be but sits back more so it's fine.

All I did was cut out top off stock cubby behind frame this gave just the extra amount to push the apexi in and out. When not in still looks stock

It's a random scrap of metal I carefully cut to match the opening, secured it with some machine screws (through the remaining plastic bits around the bezel) and nuts then painted in place (mask off the plastic).

Same as above except I fitted mine with 3-stage epoxy, then body filler, and paint to give a nice clean look without fasteners.

Turned out better than expected.
