Default Updated Hoses and Lines?

well, ive decided to check all my hoses and lines before purchasing a set of guru chips.what hoses/lines should i check and where.at WOT my AF gauge is reading rich(almost full rich).my current setup is:test pipe, straight exhaust,LBE,WG shimms(~5mm),cone filter,HKS SSQ BOV(vent),and Huntley STG II chips(im suspecting the chips).ive checked the IC couplers(all is well),J-Boot just replaced it with a good used part(previous boot was extremely cracked at turbo inlet).my vaccum readings on start-up is 12hg and 15hg when warm.on the stock gauge its showing .5 at my best guess.so if you guys can help out id appreciate it alot(i dont want to go to a shop for this....$$$$).thanx in advance.

Make sure you are running enough boost. Our chips must be run at 16-17 PSI of boost to run properly. If you run too little boost you will be too rich on boost. If the car is rich at idle and cruise then you have a problem other than chip related.

i thought mostly stock 951s cant run more that 15psi of boost?thats what im currently running,15psi.if i was to run 16-17psi wouldnt i be risking my headgasket?or some other parts that cant handle 16-17psi?well,im going to try out your method to see if its lack of boost thats making me run rich.thanx for the info derrek.

Our chips are mapped for that boost limit which is safe with them. Remember boost itself is not what takes out head gaskets, dertonation is what you need to avoid. With proper fuel volume and 92+ OCT fuel you will be fine. For the California 91 OCT stuff you need to drop down to 15-16 PSI.

The easy ones are the intercooler pipe couplers, plastic vacuum lines. The harder ones are the several hoses under the intake manifold requiring it to be removed. Being an 87' 951 you still have 'early' style mess of hoses under there. If you are serious about replacing ALL of the hoses you would save money, time and add reliability going to the late turbo 'S' style air hose set-up. It serves the same function and has 1/2 the parts! Also forget that plastic vacuum hoses with those rubber couplers! Go with silicone hose with nylon 'T's. Much less money and far more reliable. Good luck.

Shortyboy ... do a search under "hoses" to get the link below.
There is a comprehensive description of the early and later hoses complete with pix. It will answer your questions!

Keith ... I see you found it! I spent many a weekend tracing down the leaks, it's well worth it. I no longer get smells in the cabin when under boost.

I would prefer to use a kit whenever available. I remember Lindsey offers a vacuum hose replacement kit but there may be other sources. Just take your time look over every possible hose attached to your engine. Be aware that vacuum leaks can occur from other things like the intake manifold gasket or worn/loose sensors attached to the intake.
