Venturi delete and vacuum lines.

Hi,
I was wondering if there was a quick way to see if the venturi delete has been done by looking under the manifold ? I don't know if the PO did it. Also, I'd like to replace the small vacuum lines, PO replaced them with blue silicone lines but I don't really like the mix of blue vaccum lines, polished intake manifold and red engine bay body color...
I know silicone hose are better than rubber hose but I really like the look of the black cloth braided lines. I just replaced the lines in my 2001 golf TDI and I'm thinking of using the same lines, it's 3mm, rated for fuel (diesel) and vacuum lines. The brand is continental. I tried it on the bypass valve and fuel pressure reg nozzle and it look a little tight, should I try to find 4mm lines ? Or stick with silicone hoses.. ? The car is neither for track use or daily driving.

You might be able to look under the manifold, but it is easier if you do not have the stock air box in the way. It is a gray three way piece of plastic.
I just bought bulk black silicone lines from Lindsey, cut it to length and used that. There was Rennlister that made a batch of vacuum manifolds that is really slick. It really cleans up the routing and everything has a direct source.

Sorry to bump this thread, I was just wondering if 3mm vacuum hose would be too small ? I tried it on a couple of metal T union and it fits but the hose stretch a little. I can only get 3.5mm or 5mm... I can't find 4mm cloth braided, only silicone hoses.
